Fraction Unit
In the Fraction Unit students are building a conceptual understanding of fractions by using manipulatives, number lines, activities on line and the smartboard. Students are learning how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and work with word problems. They are also learning to find equivalent fractions how to simplify, compare and put fractions in order from the least to the greatest.

Understanding Numeracy
In the beginning of the school year students worked on place value, computation in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and order of operations. Students in 5th grade need to be able to know all of their multiplication facts 1 - 12. It is important that students practice at home on a regular basis.
Here are a number of websites that students can use to become fluent in their computation skills.
